ADA - Accessible Pedestrian Signals

Accessible pedestrian signals (APS) are devices that communicate information about the WALK and DON'T WALK cycles at signalized intersections to pedestrians who are visually impaired. MCDOT installs APS at every new or renovated intersection project, and over the last three years, has been funded to also install them at existing intersections that are not scheduled for renovation.

MCDOT has developed a plan for installing accessible pedestrian signals at intersections, giving priority to locations where they will provide the most benefit.

To request an accessible pedestrian signal, call MC311 by dialing 311 from within the County or 240-777-0311.
