Time Limits and Room Capacity
One hour limit for children and adults.
Maximum occupancy is no more than 8 children and 8 adults. Please see individual Discovery Room capacity when signing up.
Reserve a Room
Reserved used is limited to one hour once a week per group or family.
Reservations can be made online or in the
library
, by calling the
library
or by signing in at the Information Desk at the
library
.
Reservations can be made up to one month in advance.
If there is a no-show: after 15 minutes of reserved time, the room will be released to another user.
Customers may call the
library
to notify them that they are running late. Their reservations will then be held until they arrive, and they have the use of the room the rest of that hour.
Drop-ins/Walk-ins
Drop-ins are welcome if the room is not reserved or being used.
Walk-in customers may sign in multiple times during the week as long as the room is available.
Rooms are also available for walk-ins the first 45 minutes of the last hour the
library
is open. The last 15 minutes of the day are not available.
Check-in
An adult person (over 18 years old) booking the room will be required to leave his/her
library card
or ID at the Information Desk.
This person will be responsible for the condition of the room at the end of the booking.
Guidelines for Using the Discovery Room
Adults are encouraged to use the activities with children.
Do not leave children unattended in the Discovery Room. Children must be attended by an adult at all times.
Please, watch children closely; not all toys are designed for children under 3 years old.
No food or drink is allowed – except bottled water.
No change of diapers is allowed – diaper changing is available at the restrooms.
Do not remove furniture and materials from the Discovery Room.
Do not move chairs and tables from other areas of the library into the Discovery Room.
Check-out
Room should be cleaned up before leaving. Leave enough time to put everything away – toys, games and books- neatly, in its designated place before your reserved time is up.There are photos on the walls to guide you to the correct place for everything.
Leave the room on time. Someone else is usually waiting for the room. Library staff cannot issue reminders that time is up.
Librarians will check the room’s condition before returning library card or ID to adult responsible for booking.
Abuse of the room, equipment or furniture will be cause of suspension of user privileges.
