Cosplay Contest

Enter the fandom with MoComCon’s annual cosplay contest!

Contest Basics

  • You do not need a library card to enter.
  • Limit: one entry per person.
  • Two age groups: Teen (ages 13–17) and Adult (ages 18+).
  • Cosplay entries must be able to participate in-person at BlackRock Center for the Arts (adjacent to Germantown Library) on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 3:00-5:00PM.
  • Entry forms will only be accepted in person at the MoComCon Information table at BlackRock Center for the Arts (adjacent to Germantown Library) on Saturday, March 21 starting at 10:30 AM.
  • No electronic submissions.
  • Space is limited to the first 20 entries in each age group.
  • Costumes must be suitable for a family environment. No explicit content, images, words, or weapons, including replica and costume pieces.
  • Contestants must adhere to all MCPL Guidelines Governing the Use of Public Libraries and Guidelines for Behavior.

Contest Guidelines

  • Create and dress up in a costume of your favorite character from any fandom, book, television show, movie, game (board, video, arcade or other), or invent your own original character!
  • Costumes may include some purchased, pre-made components.

Contest Prizes

  • Cosplay winners will be selected during the live MoComCon event on March 21, 2026, and must be present to participate and win.
  • Prizes will be awarded in the following four categories for each age group:
    1. Best Presentation
    2. Most Creative
    3. Judge's Choice
    4. Peer-to-Peer Award
  • All judges’ decisions are final.

Cosplay Parade for Ages 0-12

  • Children ages 0-12 may participate in a cosplay parade, leading up to the contest.
  • Line-up for the parade will take place in the ground-level meeting room of the Germantown Library. Line-up begins at 2:30 PM and will end, next door, at the BlackRock Main Stage no later than 3:15 PM.
  • First 30 kids only.
  • Children’s names will not be announced.
  • Children will not be judged.
  • An adult, 18 or older, must accompany all children walking in the parade.
  • MCPL is not responsible for the monitoring of children participating in the parade.
  • Above cosplay contest rules and guidelines apply.
