Consumer Protection Office Reaches Agreement with Local Electricity Provider Regarding Misleading Advertisement Claims
Montgomery County's Office of Consumer Protection has reached an agreement with Washington Gas Energy Services (WGES), an unregulated marketing affiliate of the Washington Gas Light Company, regarding misleading advertisements that encourage residential consumers to switch their electricity supplier from Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco) to WGES. Consumer Protection Intervenes to Recover and Distribute Clothing Left at Defunct Drycleaners After receiving complaints from consumers who had been unable to retrieve their clothing, the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) retrieved clothing from defunct drycleaner, Shamrock Cleaners in Silver Spring. OCP Signs Settlement Agreement with Air Duct Cleaning Firm Regarding Deceptive Sales Practices The Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection (OCP) has entered into a settlement agreement with an air duct cleaning firm to provide refunds to consumers and make substantial changes to its advertising, services and contracts.
