General Resources

    • Provides personalized employment and job skills counseling for low-income and other disadvantaged residents. Website includes list of current job openings.
  • A Wider Circle: 301-608-3504; careersupport@awidercircle.org
    • Offers individual career counseling and coaching, specialized workshops, and professional networking. Also offers professional clothing, free of charge.
  • Upwardly Global
    • For skilled immigrants who have been in the U.S. less than 5 years and have a degree outside the U.S. Assists with job search, interview skills, resume writing, etc.
  • Welcome Back Center: 240-777-3168 
    • Provides assistance to internationally trained healthcare professionals to enter the local healthcare workforce.
  • Interfaith Works, Vocational Services Program: 301-762-8682
    • Provides comprehensive, individualized support for people who have limited income and who may have experienced homelessness. Such support can include resume preparation, job searches, employment applications, and interview preparation.
  • Spanish Catholic Center (Catholic Charities): Employment Services Program
    • Helps match employers with potential employees.  Job opportunities are compiled and distributed each week. Also offer regular workshops on “Job Readiness” and “Life Skills” to help job seekers improve their employment potential.   
  • CASA (requires membership) 
    • Connects employers with honest and reliable workers who are available daily for jobs involving moving, packing, transporting, and deep cleaning. Also have experts in construction, carpentry, landscaping, housekeeping, painting, tiling, odd jobs, and more.

  • Future Link
    • Provides low-income, first-generation-to-college young adults with the tools, skills and resources to achieve lasting economic self-sufficiency.
  • Emma's Torch- info@emmastorch.org
    • Paid culinary apprenticeship program for refugees, asylees, asylum seekers with work authorization, and survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking (with work authorization) who arrived in the U.S. in the past 5 years. Assistance with job placement after completion of program.
