Zero-Emission Vehicles
Zero-Emissions Vehicles are an important part of Montgomery County’s Climate Action Plan (CAP) to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 80% by 2027 and 100% by 2035. Transportation represents 42% of the County’s community-wide GHG emissions in 2018, including on-road transportation, aviation, rail, and off-road vehicles. To reduce transportation emissions and meet the County’s GHG reduction goal, 100% of private and public transportation options in the County will need to be powered by zero emissions technologies by 2035.
The goals of the county’s Zero-Emissions Vehicle initiatives are to increase use of EVs by both residents and local businesses to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and to build confidence in ecofriendly transportation options among the public.
EV Purchasing Co-op (EVPC) Pilot
The Montgomery County EV Purchasing Cooperative Pilot (EVPC) is designed to support residents and local businesses in their journey to owning and leasing new and pre-owned electric vehicles (EVs).
The EVPC uses the combined purchasing power of County residents and businesses to get discounts and incentives on electric vehicles from local dealerships. In addition, the EVPC connects members with a growing network of community partners, participating organizations, and Electrified Dealers to answer questions, organize events, support unique local benefits for EV drivers, and make EV ownership attractive, convenient, and cost-effective. Together, we can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and expand electrified transportation across the county!
