About the County Lawn Care Law

Montgomery County Bill 52-14 was adopted in October 2015.  On August 3, 2017, the Circuit Court overturned portions of the law related to the use of pesticides on private property. Portions of the law do apply to County property and public education. Read the Court's Ruling here.
The Department is working with the County Attorney to understand the implications of this ruling, and will provide additional information as soon as it is available. Restrictions on the use of pesticides on private lawns that were scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2018 will not apply based on the Judge's ruling.
