U-Visa Application Directions

How to file a U-Visa application with MCPD

The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) will certify only those applications for victims of qualifying crimes (see below) that have occurred in Montgomery County in which an arrest has NOT been made.  If you are the victim of a qualifying crime which took place in another jurisdiction including a municipality within Montgomery County, please contact that agency (Gaithersburg City, Rockville City, Prince George’s County, Washington, DC, etc.)

If the incident did occur in Montgomery County and an arrest has not been made, mail the completed application to the Montgomery County Department of Police at the address below and please include a self-addressed stamped envelope along with a copy of the police report. Please include any supporting documentation.  


 MCPD no longer has a 10-year statute of limitation on filing a U-Visa application.

If there has been an arrest made in your incident , the U-Visa application must be certified by the State’s Attorney’s Office. For any questions about the State’s Attorney’s Office and their procedures, please call 240-777-7300 and state that you are inquiring about a U-Visa.
