The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Community Risk Reduction Section plays a vital role in keeping the community safe. Providing fire safety education and community risk reduction programs is a top priority of the department. The section provides community risk reduction analysis and valuable fire prevention resources to the general public and fire service. Through the analysis of fire incident data, the section develops strategies and programs to reduce fire loss across the County and in collaboration with State partners. MCFRS is committed to providing resources, education, training and leadership to enhance public awareness about fire and life safety issues. This is achieved through a number of programs and services dedicated to improving the safety of Montgomery County’s residents and include:

  • Home safety and smoke alarm program
  • “After the Fire” door-to-door outreach program
  • Premier Child Safety Car Seat Program
  • Senior Outreach Program
  • Fire safety and curriculum-based programs in schools and summer camps
  • Community outreach and education events and bi-lingual presentations throughout the County
  • “Safety In Our Neighborhood” community-wide safety and educational outreach programs
  • Montgomery County’s SafeKids Coalition
