Montgomery County Fire and Rescue is committed to transparency and accountability. Under the Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA), members of the public have a right to inspect and copy public records held by state and local agencies, if disclosure is not prohibited by exempt under law.

Many records and data documents are publicly accessible, certain categories of information may be protected or redacted under confidentiality laws.

The Maryland Medical Records Act in Health-General Art., §§ 4-301 to 4-309 places limits on disclosure of medical and mental health records and requires health care providers to follow proper procedures for authorizations, corrections, and disclosures.

In parallel, the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) imposes legal safeguards on the privacy and security of “protected health information” (PHI). Requests for health related data must comply with HIPAA’s requirements regarding authorizations, minimum necessary disclosures, and permitted uses and disclosures under those rules.

By using this portal, you may submit a formal request for public records or data held by Montgomery County Fire & Rescue. All requests will be handled in accordance with applicable state and federal law, including required timelines, permissible fees, and lawful exemptions or redactions.
