About Gabe

Gabe is a lifelong resident of Montgomery County and is deeply committed to the County, its people, and, as the son of immigrant parents, its diversity. He graduated from Montgomery County Public Schools and has dedicated his career to public service and advocating for just social policies.

He graduated from Walt Whitman High School, received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Maryland, and earned his MBA from The Johns Hopkins University.

In November 2018, Gabe was elected to the Montgomery County Council as an at-large member, representing more than 1 million county residents. In 2021, he served as the Council’s President and Chair of the Health and Human Services committee, where he oversaw public health and human services that impact children, adults, and seniors in Montgomery County.

Gabe previously served on the Public Safety committee, where he reviewed current policies to maintain transparency and increase the accountability of our public safety departments.  He also worked on policies for first responders in order to provide first-class resources to the County police, its department of fire/rescue, paramedics, and emergency operators.

In November 2022, Gabe was re-elected to the Montgomery County Council to reprise his role as an at-large member and Chair of the Health and Human Services committee. He also currently serves on the Education and Culture committee, where he will manage issues in partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools and other local organizations to expand access to equitable, quality learning and career advancement opportunities to young people, individuals with disabilities, and adults.

Gabe is truly “at-large,” having lived in Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, Bethesda; and now, Kensington, where he lives with his wife Catherine, also a Montgomery County native, and their four young children.
