MCEO NO. 241-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Traffic Order - Silver Spring.  INSTALL No Left Turn 8:15 - 9:15 AM 2:45 - 3:45 PM School Days for eastbound traffic exiting the southern driveway for New Hampshire Estates Elementary School onto Carroll Ave.  Effective Date:  8/18/06.

 

MCEO NO. 242-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Warfield Rd. at Plum Creek Dr. Improvement, CIP No. 507017.  A public hearing will be held at 3:00 PM on October 31, 2006, in the lobby level auditorium of the Executive Office Building at 101 Monroe St. in Rockville, Maryland, 20850, to consider a proposal to improve the Stopping Sight Distance (SSD)within proposed public ways located in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  Improvements on Warfield Rd. at Plum Creek Dr. will include:  1) re-grade of Warfield Rd. 422' west of the intersection to 280' east of the intersection; 2) removal of the existing storm drain structures and construction of the new storm drain structures that can accommodate runoff from the improved road. The total estimated cost of the proposed improvement including engineering, land acquisition, site improvements and construction is $797,000.00 and will be made payable from funds appropriated for CIP No. 507017.  The purpose of the hearing is to obtain public comments to assist in the determination of whether or not to authorize this project.  Effective Date:  8/22/06.

 

MCEO NO. 243-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Traffic Order-Silver Spring.  INSTALL No Parking Any Time on the west side of Avenel Rd. from the southern entrance to Saint Camillus Catholic Church to Hampshire West C.  Effective Date:  8/21/06.

 

MCEO NO. 244-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Traffic Order - Rockville.  INSTALL No Parking Any Time around the perimeter of the cul-de-sac island at the terminus of Friendship Way south of Quince Valley Dr., Quince Valley Ct., Quince Valley Ter., Quince Ridge Ln., Quince Valley Dr., Mosel Ter. east of Friendship Way, Mosel Ter. west of Friendship Way.  Effective Date:  8/23/06.

 

MCEO NO. 245-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION- Montrose Parkway West, Wilgus Associates LP - Condemnation Authorization - CIP No. 5003111.  By advance taking, Montgomery County has acquired property owned by Wilgus Associates, LP that is considered necessary to the construction of the Montrose Parkway West project.  The two parties have not been able to agree on an amount to be paid for the property, therefore, Montgomery County may institute condemnation proceedings under Section 49-50 of the Montgomery County Code.  The County Attorney is directed to acquire by condemnation this property, Liber Folio - 3691/45, owned by Wilgus Associates LP.  Effective Date:  8/28/06.

 

MCEO NO. 246-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Silver Spring Library CIP No. 710302.  The option contract between Richard S. Gatti, Jr. and Eileen J. Gatti and Montgomery County, Maryland, for the purchase of land for Silver Spring Library is hereby accepted.  The County Attorney is hereby directed to take all necessary steps to acquire the land.  Effective Date:  8/28/06.

 

MCEO NO. 247-06:  FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE - Fire Lane Establishment.  This order is notification of the establishment of a fire lane at Highlands Center, 23200 Blk. Stringtown Rd., 23200 Blk. Brewers Tavern Way.  The department is hereby ordered to post fire lane signs and paint curbs/pavement (painting optional) in the location listed above.  When signs and paint work have been completed, this order will authorize the enforcement of this fire lane by appropriate police and fire officials.  Signs must be posted so that it is not possible to park a vehicle without being in sight of a sign.  The fine for parking in a fire lane is $250.00.  Effective Date:  8/30/06.

MCEO NO. 250-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Traffic Order - Bethesda.  INSTALL Stop on Rodman Rd. northbound at Keokuk St., on Montgomery Ave. southbound at Keokuk St., on Park Ave. northbound at Keokuk St.  Effective Date:  8/25/06.

MCEO NO. 251-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Traffic Order - Silver Spring.  INSTALL No Thru Trucks Over 7000 lb GVW on northbound Galway Dr. from Calverton Blvd. to Fairland Rd., on southbound Galway Dr. from Fairland Rd. to Calverton Blvd.  Effective Date:  8/28/06.

 

MCEO NO. 252-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Pearl Street Sidewalk - CIP No. 506747.  The County Executive finds that public interest requires construction of a sidewalk in the public right-of-way located in Bethesda, Maryland, and the director of the Department of Public Works and Transportation is authorized to proceed with the construction of a concrete sidewalk built on the west side of Pearl Street from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church to Sleaford Dr., located in Bethesda, Maryland, under Capital Improvement Project 506747.  The sidewalk will be four feet wide and will conform to the ADA requirements.  The total length of the sidewalk is 625 linear feet.  Pearl Street is classified as a business district roadway and has a 50 foot public right-of-way.  The existing roadway is approximately 23 feet wide.  There is approximately 15 feet of available public right-of-way along the west side of Pearl Street.  The sidewalk will be constructed at the edge of new concrete curb.  The total estimated cost of the project including engineering site improvements and construction is $66,700.00.  Effective Date:  9/1/06.

 

MCEO NO. 253-60:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Newport Mill Road Sidewalk CIP No. 506747.  The County Executive finds that public interest requires construction of a sidewalk in the public right-of-way located in Wheaton, Maryland, and the director of the Department of Public Works and Transportation is authorized to proceed with the construction of a concrete sidewalk on the west side of Newport Mill Road from the existing sidewalk at 11604 Newport Mill Road to Veirs Mill Road, located in Wheaton, Maryland, under Capital Improvement Project 506747.  The sidewalk will be 4' wide and will conform to ADA requirements.  Newport Mill Road is classified as a primary residential roadway and has a 60' public right-of-way.  The existing roadway is approximately 30' wide.  There is approximately 15' of available public right-of-way along the west side of Newport Mill Road.  The sidewalk will be constructed with a varying greenspace.  The total estimated cost of the project including engineering site improvements and construction is $27,700.00.  Effective Date:  9/01/06.

 

MCEO NO. 254-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Nickelby Drive and Bloom Drive Sidewalk CIP No. 506747.  The County Executive finds that public interest requires construction of a sidewalk in the public right-of-way located in Damascus, Maryland, and the director of the Department of Public Works and Transportation is authorized to proceed with the construction of a concrete sidewalk on the south side of Bloom Drive from Ridge Road to Nickelby Drive and the west side of Nickelby Drive from Bloom Drive to Cutsail Road, located in Damascus, Maryland, under Capital Improvement Project 506747.  The sidewalk will be 4' wide and will conform to the ADA requirements.  Bloom Drive is classified as a secondary residential roadway and has a 60' public right-of-way.  The existing roadway on Bloom Drive is approximately 26' wide with 17' of available public right-of-way along the south side of Bloom Drive.  Nickelby Drive is classified as a secondary residential roadway and has a 60' public right-of-way.  The existing roadway on Nickelby Drive is approximately 26' wide with 17'of
available public right-of-way along the west side of Nickelby Drive.  The sidewalk will be constructed with a varying green space.  The total estimated cost of the project including engineering site improvements and construction is $52,100.00.  Effective Date:  9/01/06.

 

MCEO NO. 255-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Hornbeam Drive and Sycamore Lane Sidewalk CIP No. 506747.  The County Executive finds that public interest requires construction of a sidewalk in the public right-of-way located in Rockville, Maryland, and the director of the Department of Public Works and Transportation is authorized to proceed with the construction of a concrete sidewalk on the south side of Hornbeam Drive from Sycamore Lane from Hornbeam Drive to Muncaster Mill Road, located in Rockville, Maryland, under Capital Improvement Project # 506747.  The sidewalk will be 4' wide and will conform to ADA requirements.  Hornbeam Drive is classified as a secondary residential roadway and has a 60' public right-of-way.  The existing roadway is approximately 20' wide with 20' of available public right-of-way along the south side of Hornbeam Road.  Sycamore Lane is classified as a secondary residential roadway and has a 60' public right-of-way.  The existing roadway is approximately 20' wide with 20' of available public right-of-way along the west side of Sycamore Lane. The sidewalk will be constructed with a varying amount of green space.  The total estimated cost of the project including engineering site improvements and construction is $63,600.00.  Effective Date:  9/01/06.

 

MCEO NO. 256-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Forest Glen Road Bikeway CIP No. 507596.  The County Executive finds that public interest requires construction of a bike path in the public right-of-way located in Silver Spring, Maryland, and the director of the Department of Public Works and Transportation is authorized to proceed with the construction of an asphalt bikeway to replace the existing concrete sidewalk.  The bike path will be constructed on the south side of Forest Glen Road from Georgia Avenue to Sligo Creek Trail, located in Silver Spring, Maryland, under Capital Improvement Project 507596.  The bike path will vary from 6' to 8' wide and will conform with ADA requirements.  Forest Glen is classified as an arterial roadway and has an 80' public right-of-way.  The existing roadway is approximately 24' wide with 30' of available public right-of-way on the south side of Forest Glen road from Georgia Avenue to the Sligo Creek Trail.  The bikeway will be constructed with a varying green space.  The total estimated cost of the project including engineering site improvements and construction is $136,500.00.  Effective Date:  9/01/06.

 

MCEO NO. 266-06:  DEPARTMENT OF TECHNOLOGY SERVICES - Cable Office.  A public
hearing was held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 28,  2006, in the 3rd floor Council Hearing Room of the Stella B. Werner Office Building, 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, Maryland, 20850, to receive input regarding the application for a cable television franchise agreement submitted by Verizon Maryland, Inc. The hearing was conducted jointly with participating municipalities pursuant to requirements of applicable local ordinances.  Effective Date:  9/14/06.

 

MCEO NO. 269-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Silver Spring Library, CIP No. 710302.  The option contract between Jenny M. Caporaletti and Paul A. Caporaletti and
Montgomery County, Maryland, for the purchase of land for Silver Spring Library is accepted.  The County Attorney is directed to take all necessary steps to acquire the easement.  Effective Date:  9/18/06.

 

MCEO NO. 271-06:  DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Fairland Road Improvement, CIP No. 500402.  The option contract between Abyssinia Baptist Church, c/o Spencer Jackson, Pastor, and Montgomery County, Maryland, for the purchase of land and granting of easement for the Fairland Road Improvement project is accepted.  The County Attorney is hereby directed to take all necessary steps to acquire the easement.  Effective Date:  9/22/06.
