Steps to Search and Apply for an MCG Job 

  1. Search for a job

    1. Open the MCG iRecruitment Portal - Search Jobs web page
    2. Select a Job Category(s), enter a keyword (optional), and/or select a date job posted timeframe
    3. Click the Search button to search for jobs
    4. The search results screen will provide a list the  Job names, titles, organization names, job categories, locations, dates posted, closing dates and employment status in a table towards the bottom of the page based on your search criteria

    You must login to the iRecruitment Portal to apply for a MCG job (See Step 3 below).

  2. Prepare your resume

    MCG requires applicants to complete an online application and to upload a resume. Open the  resume preparation tips  web page for some helpful tips on how to prepare your resume for a MCG job. Paper applications and resumes are not accepted.

  3. Login to the MCG iRecruitment Portal

    For Employees

    County employee applicants must have a Montgomery County Government (MCG) Active Directory account to apply for a MCG job.  If you are not an employee, use an Extranet account to apply for a job.

    1. Open the MCG iRecruitment Home page
    2. Click the Active Employee Login button in the bottom right of the screen
    3. Login to the County Employee ePortal using your County credentials
    4. Click the Employee Self-Service link
    5. Click the Go to Employee Self-Service button
    6. Click MCG HR iRecruitment Employee link

    For Non-Employees

    Non-employee applicants must have a Montgomery County Government (MCG) Extranet account to apply for a MCG job. If you don't have an account, then you must first create a MCG Extranet account using MCG's Extranet Account Self-Service portal.     1. Open the MCG iRecruitment Home page
    2. Click the Login to AccessMCG Extranet button in the top right of the screen
    3. Enter your user name and password to login to the County's Extranet Portal
    4. Click the Employment image link in the County's Extranet Portal

  4. Apply for a job

    Use the County's iRecruitment Portal  to login, find, and apply for a job. Give yourself plenty of time as you will need to complete the online application, answer detailed candidate qualification assessment questions, and upload your resume.

    Success Tip

    Your application is only complete once you see the message "Thank you for submitting your application." on the application confirmation page. Additional information will not be accepted after the job closing date.

  5. Verify and track your application's status

    Use the County's iRecruitment Portal to login, verify, and check the status of your application. The Verify and Track Status Guide provides detailed instructions for verifying and tracking the status of your application.
