The Montgomery County Police Missing Children Unit is comprised of a sergeant and four investigators. Its members are experienced in handling missing investigations and are dedicated to the department’s mission of locating missing children.
Members of the community can report missing children to MCPD by calling 911 or non-emergency at 301-279-8000 for an officer to respond and initiate a report. Community members can also visit any of the MCPD district stations. Per departmental policy, all initial reports of missing children/persons are handled by MCPD uniformed patrol. There is no time limit on reporting a missing child. The television rule of waiting 24 hours does not apply. MCPD encourages community members to call and ask for assistance if needed. MCPD is here to help.
