Patient Advocacy

Effective January 1, 2013, the EMS Transport Insurance Reimbursement Law authorized Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service ("MCFRS") to seek reimbursement to recover costs incurred by EMS transports.

OCP provides patient advocacy services regarding the EMS Insurance Reimbursement Program.  Under the EMS Law, OCP’s critical role is to implement a program of high level customer service to both county and non-county residents, to address any questions and concerns and to serve as liaison with MCFRS third-party vendors to ensure that any billing issues are promptly resolved.

Please review the Emergency Medical Transport Services FAQs  for answers to frequently asked questions regarding the EMS Law and process.

The Patient Advocate can be contacted by calling OCP at 240-777-0311 or emailing consumer@montgomerycountymd.gov.  Please include the patient's name, the date of the transportation service, the patient's mailing address, and a call back telephone number.
