The Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center is a vibrant recreation center located in the Town of Chevy Chase near the business section of Chevy Chase as well as the Arts & Entertainment district maintained by the Bethesda Urban Partnership, Inc. In addition to the community center, the facility houses the administrative offices of the Town of Chevy Chase as well as the Leland Children's Center, which is operated by Wonders Child Care.


Whether your interest is in sports, fitness, dance, or art, the Lawton Community Recreation Center offers you a place to play, celebrate, or learn a new hobby. There are classes ranging from arts and crafts, leisure/hobbies, to drama and exercise. Area and county-wide sports programs, family special events, 55+ Active Adults programs, summer and holiday camps, programs for individuals with disabilities, holiday parties for children, volunteer opportunities and much more are all available at the Lawton Community Center.


The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission maintains the outdoor facilities that include tennis and basketball courts and a child's play area next to the Lawton Community Center.

Program Information


Potomac Club FridayYouth Activity Club for grades 3 through 6. Meets Friday evenings 7-9pm October 18, 2013 through April 18, 2014. Activities include sports, arts and crafts, bingo, movies, dj, games, etc. If Club Friday is full, please add your name to the wait list. We've taken additional members in the past - what do you have to lose?

For those using public transportation Montgomery County offers online trip planning tools; Google Maps, Google mobile and Metro's Trip Planner, designed to make it easy to plan your trip while at home, work or on the go.


Accessible parking spaces for individuals with disabilities are avaliable and posted in the facility's parking lot. In addition, accessible entrances to the building are located and posted near the accessible parking spaces.
