Rental Information

Community and Recreation Centers offer a variety of spaces to accommodate parties, meetings, classes and other events. Whether you need a large space for a wedding reception or party, or a conference or classroom, spaces are available for rent in Montgomery County Recreation facilities that will fit your needs and your budget.

What you need to know:

  • Tables and chairs are available at no extra cost, but renters are responsible for setting them up for the event and taking them down after use.
  • Kitchen facilities are available only when renting a social hall.
  • Alcoholic beverages (beer, wine and champagne) are permitted at events in social halls and most – but not all -- community centers. If you plan to serve alcohol, check first with the facility you are considering to make sure it is permitted there.
  • Applicants for space rentals must be at least 21 years of age.
  • The renter will be responsible for any damages incurred to County property during use of the space.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited at all Montgomery County Recreation facilities.

Ready to reserve space? Follow these steps:

  • Contact the Recreation Center, Senior Center or Aquatics Center where you’d like to rent space.
  • Ask about space availability and cost, which will vary according to the type of event, time of day, and rooms available.
  • If space is available, complete a Facility Permit Form and sign and date a Renter's Code of Conduct Form. The forms must be signed by the applicant, and not a designee.
  • Fill out and include an alcohol permit if you are planning to serve light alcohol (beer, wine, champagne) at your event.
  • Half of the rental fee must be paid at the time the reservation request is submitted. This can be done by check made payable to Montgomery County Department of Recreation (MCDR), cash, or credit card – Master Card, Discover, Visa or American Express.
  • The balance of the rental fee, along with a $200 security deposit, will be due at least two weeks prior to use.
  • Applications are processed and approved by the director of the recreation facility (or their designee). The Recreation Director and Park Police reserve the right to review and deny any applications for cause, and the applicant will be notified with the reason.

Cancellations:

  • Applicants who wish to cancel their space reservation must do so in writing to the facility where the space is located. Rental costs will be refunded, minus a $25 service fee when a cancellation is 30 or more days away from the event. Cancellations that occur within 30 days of the event will result in the applicant’s forfeiture of half the cost of the rental, which was paid at the time the Facility Permit was submitted.
  • Cancellations that occur due to facility failure will result in a full refund of rental fees paid by the applicant.
