Therapeutic Recreation

We provide accessible leisure, educational and personal development activities for individuals with disabilities through inclusion (mainstreaming) and adaptive programs. Therapeutic Recreation programs can help individuals to gain confidence, have fun and make an impact in their lives.

The Therapeutic and Inclusion Recreation Team is dedicated to providing a wide range of fun, innovative, inclusive, accessible and social recreational experiences for individuals with disabilities.

Our goal is to enhance the health, well-being and quality of life for Montgomery County residents of all abilities. Therapeutic Recreation programs are specifically designed for individuals with disabilities. We also offer Inclusion Services in which accommodations may be provided so an individual with a disability can fully participate in any MCR program we offer.

We offer classes such aquatic, art, dance, fitness, sports and more. Additional programs geared toward adults include social clubs and special events. We also offer age-appropriate camps for youth and teens.

We look forward to seeing you in our programs!

The Perfect Fit

The Montgomery County Therapeutic Recreation and Inclusion Services Team offers a range of accommodations, classes, special events and social clubs for individuals with disabilities. These programs/classes have a higher staff-to-participant ratio, smaller class size, and more structure than general programs and classes. Let us help you find the perfect fit for your recreational interest!

Successful Leisure Experience

Recreation and Leisure activities offer opportunities for meeting others, engaging in social interactions, and to develop friendships. It is often these relationships that make recreation programs most meaningful. It is our goal to help all participants have a successful leisure experience. The Therapeutic Recreation team works with our customers to match their need with Recreation Department programs.
