What is Rec Assist?

Rec Assist is provided by Montgomery County Recreation to make financial assistance available to County residents who receive public assistance. The Rec Assist Fund subsidizes Recreation activity and membership fees so that eligible residents can pay reduced fees for these Recreation services.  Throughout the year, we offer hundreds of activities, memberships and passes for you to choose from and encourage you to register early.

How Does Rec Assist Work?

  • The Rec Assist Fund is available for up to 12 months, Jan. 1-  Dec. 31, or until the fund is depleted.
  • Rec Assist funds can only be applied to activities costing $25 or more.
  • A minimum 20 percent co-payment per activity or membership, per participant, is required at the time of registration.
  • Use of the Rec Assist Fund is available on a “first come, first served” based. You may use the amount on your account only until the Rec Assist Fund is used up.
  • Once the Rec Assist Fund is used up, you must pay full price for all registrations, even if you have not used the entire Rec Assist amount on your account.
  • The total amount that a family qualifies for will be placed on the family account and may only be used by eligible family members.
  • Applications will be processed and the amount of assistance for which you are eligible will be placed on your Recreation account within 10 business days of the date we receive your application.
