Asian American and Pacific Islander Month 2020
During the month of May 2020, the Council celebrated Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. To mark to the occasion, four video segments were presented throughout the month highlighting the lives and perspectives of Asian American and Pacific Islanders in Montgomery County.
The first video introduces businesses supported by the organization KOBE, which assists small and minority owned businesses to navigate government contracts. The next segment asks first-generation immigrants about how they arrived in Montgomery County and what helped them thrive in the community. The third video profiles Sean Pang, 2019 Claes Nobel Educator of the Year and 2017 Teacher of the Year awardee. The last segment sits down with students in Montgomery County to discuss their perspectives on racial equity.
