Financial Relief and Lower Fees for Businesses
Small changes can make a big difference. Enacted in 2020, Expedited Bill 40-20 benefits thousands of businesses across the County by simplifying the Uniform Trader’s License Fee. The updated legislation streamlines the trader’s license process and saves business hundreds of dollars per year.
The legislation creates a flat Uniform License Fee of $15 and removes the previous administrative burden placed on business that required them to determine the value of their inventories. Previously, the fee ranged between $15 and $800 annually depending on inventory.
The legislation is one of many small steps that the Council has taken to make it easier for local businesses to grow and this legislation is an important part of our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and economic recession.
