Building Sustainable Transportation

The Council is committed to creating policies that support development and transit projects that improve the quality of life for residents in Montgomery County. The Council works closely with the Planning Board and the Planning Department to guide the County’s four-year Growth and Infrastructure Policy, which is one of the most important policy documents in the County.

Improvements in the County’s transportation network are also among the Council’s key goals, and recent projects completed by the Montgomery County Department of Transportation are already providing County residents with new ways to move around the region. Our focus is on improving transit travel time and increasing opportunities for a broad range of users, including minority and low-income riders living along highly congested corridors. The County is on its way to improved accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists to better connect residents to high density housing and jobs.
