The Montgomery County Council is the legislative branch of your local government. Their offices are in Rockville. Eleven Councilmembers are making decisions that directly impact you. They have big responsibilities such as:

  • Approving the laws that shape our community.
  • Deciding how to spend money on important services like libraries, public transportation and after-school programs.
  • Planning how land is used, determining where houses, shops and other buildings can be built.

Talk to Your Councilmembers

Ready to talk to your Councilmembers? Get their contact information and Council agendas on the Council’s website and connect with them by:   
  • Sending an e-mail: Share your thoughts in writing. Ask about internships too! 
  • Attending a meeting: Speak for 2-3 minutes during the public comment period, your story matters!
  • Tagging them on social media: Engage with them on the platforms you already use.
  • Finding their office: Stop by or call to ask a question.
