Class Instructors &  Contractual Opportunities

Instructors for Montgomery County Recreation classes and workshops are independent contractors who share their skills and experience with participants. Contractors must be at least 18 years of age, and must have the equivalent of four years of education, appropriate certification and extensive experience in an applicable field. Contractors must have a minimum of one year of instructor experience in the anticipated field.

Montgomery County Recreation offers a wide variety of classes and workshops, and recreation instructors are hired as contractors to teach music, dance, exercise, wellness, personal development, arts, crafts, sports and special interest subjects for individuals of all ages and abilities.

Independent contractors are also hired to provide coach bus transportation for various after school, school break, and weekend programs that include trips to varying locations both within and outside Montgomery County for Montgomery County Public School (“MCPS”) students. Recreation also provides various family, senior, adult outdoor adventure trips, teen trips and swim meet trips.

Independent contractors are hired to provide officiating services for various sport activities, including soccer, softball, futsal, and basketball for youth, teens, adults, and individuals with disabilities.

Montgomery County Recreation contractually engages with qualified and responsible professional service contractors on a continuing basis, in accordance with the terms and conditions and subject to the approvals of the County Attorney and the Contract Review Committee.
