Project Description and Background

Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) performed an evaluation between March 2022 and August 2022 to identify safety needs along MD 185 (Connecticut Avenue) from MD 97 (Georgia Avenue) to the Matthew Henson Trail in Aspen Hill. This roadway section, while under the jurisdiction of Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA), was designated as a High Injury Network (HIN) corridor in the County's Vision Zero Action Plan, which is a designation assigned to corridors with higher numbers of crashes resulting in serious injury or fatalities. This audit identifies safety needs, recommendations, and agency responsibility for pursuing maintenance, operational, and infrastructure improvements.
