Training Opportunities

Whether you want to learn how to help your family, your neighborhood, or Montgomery County, a number of programs offer emergency preparedness and response training opportunities.

  • Community Emergency Response Team - After completing training, CERT members are able to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the home and workplace, help themselves and their neighbors until professional responders arrive, and participate in projects to enhance the public safety of their communities.

  • American Red Cross - The Red Cross offers numerous trainings including CPR/AED, First Aid, babysitter training, and more.

  • FEMA Independent Study - The Emergency Management Institute (EMI) offers on-line, self-paced courses for people with emergency management responsibility, as well as the general public.

  • Community Presentations - Have a member of Montgomery County's preparedness team talk to your community group about how to better prepare for emergencies. This presenation is appropriate for homeowners associations, civic groups, and faith-based groups looking for a good overview of how communities can help themselves and each other in emergencies.
