Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center

The Marilyn J. Praisner Community Recreation Center is located west of Rt. 29 in the Burtonsville community in eastern Montgomery County. Adjacent to the Marilyn J. Praisner Library and south of Rt. 198, both facilities are easily accessible to the residents of Burtonsville, Spencerville and East Silver Spring.

The eight-square-mile Burtonsville community has a population of roughly 7,500 people who reside in approximately 2,500 households. Nearly half of the households include children under the age of 18. The multi-purpose Praisner Recreation Center serves all age groups with a variety of programs and activities that include fitness, sports, music, art and dance, as well as social events.

RecFit Classes & Activities

Due to COVID-19, several Montgomery County Recreation facilities are operating with new CDC recommended safety restrictions.

Our centers are currently closed to the public with limited hours at several Recreation centers for RecFit indoor classes and activities.

What Is RecFit?

RecFit, provided by Montgomery County Recreation, offers fitness opportunities in a safe, socially distant environment in several recreation centers located around the County.

Fitness Activities

Reserve a spot for fitness and open gym activities, including:

  • Badminton
  • Pickleball
  • Table tennis
  • Weight/Fitness room use

Indoor Classes

Register for COVID-19 safe indoor classes, including but not limited to:

  • Aerobics
  • Basketball
  • Fitness for Kids and Families Karate/Jujitsu
