Martin Luther King, Jr. Swim Center (Indoor Pool)

1201 Jackson Road | Silver Spring, MD |20904 |240-777-8060

The MLK Indoor Swim Center refresh project is well underway. While we have partially reopened the pool to programmed activities including water fitness classes, the facility will fully reopen for general public use in December 2020. The Olney, Germantown and KSAC aquatic centers are open for general public use. You can find information how to reserve a swim session here.

The Swim Center initially opened in 1981 as the Colesville/White Oak Swim Center, but was later renamed in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Swim Center is located in the White Oak area of Silver Spring near the intersection of Jackson Road and New Hampshire Avenue. Close to both White Oak Middle School and Jackson Road Elementary School, the swim facility is part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreational Park.

Although classes and programs are scheduled throughout the week, times are also set aside for recreational and lap swimming and kayaking. Classes include diving, fitness, lifeguard training, CPR training, swimming and water safety. Competitive opportunities are available for a reasonable fee through a swim team, dive team, masters swimming and scuba.

The MLK, Jr. Swim center is completely accessible with ramps, elevators, ladders and lifts.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Indoor Aquatic Center is closed as it undergoes a refresh. Upgrades to the center include ADA improvements, a new roof and cosmetic upgrades to the lobby and locker rooms. The aquatic center is scheduled to reopen in December 2020.
