Same Day (SDR) Registration judges assist voters at the check-in voting station in the polling place. They check-in previously registered voters by asking for identifying information and entering the data into electronic pollbooks to confirm registration. They also register new voters by verifying eligibility documents and adding voter data into the electronic pollbooks. They print documents for voters to verify and sign. The SDR Judges do not rotate to other voting stations. 


Responsibilities:

  • Verify eligibility documents and accurately enter voter information into the pollbook to create same day registration record.
  • Assist with check-in for voters already registered voters
  • Correctly determine when voters need to vote a provisional ballot
  • Work as a team to close the polling place and prepare the materials and documentation to be returned to the Board of Elections
  • Assist as needed at the direction of the Chief Judges

Requirements:

  • Minimum age - 18 years
  • Complete all required training
  • Attend the mandatory pre-election meeting at the polling place the night prior to Election Day and work as a team to set up the polling place. Standard meeting time is 6:30 pm but may be adjusted as necessary.
  • Able to speak clearly, listen well and be friendly and welcoming
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions

Service Hours and Service Stipend

This is a ful-day position.
Pre-Election Set-Up Hours: 6:30 pm until completion of set-up (approximately 9:30 pm)
Election Day Service Hours: 6:00 am until closing (approximately 11:00 pm).
Election Day Payment: $250.00. Training Payment: $50.00

Note: Election Workers who served as Election Judges (poll workers) in the 2024 election cycle will receive a returning service bonus for Election Judge service during the 2026 election cycle. Election Judges will receive a $100.00 bonus for each full day served Election Day or during Early Voting or a $50.00 bonus for each part day served on Election Day or during Early Voting.
