Early Voting Runners (EVRNR) are tasked with providing support to the early voting centers by transporting critical election materials once daily each day of early voting except the final day of early voting. The EVRNR’s arrive to the Board of Elections (warehouse) at 6:30pm to pick up materials to be delivered to the early voting site. Then, in one car, two EVRNR’s of different party affiliations ride together to deliver the critical election materials. Once at the early voting site, the Chief Judge or Center Manager will provide materials to be returned to the Board of Elections. This role requires use of a personal vehicle and cell phone. There is no mileage reimbursement for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Transport critical election materials from early voting centers to the Board of Elections
- Supply early voting centers with requested supplies
- In one vehicle with the other Early Voting Runner, safely and securely transport materials directly to the Board of Elections immediately after leaving the polling place
- Able to speak clearly, listen well and be courteous to voters and fellow Election Workers
- Able to follow procedures and written and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of major roadways throughout Montgomery County and the ability to navigate (using GPS or a map) to locate polling places
- Automobile: The vehicle must be able to securely transport election materials. The vehicle may be a car, SUV, pick–up truck with a covered bed, or van. Public transportation, taxi cabs, ride sharing services (Uber, Lyft, etc.), motorcycles, bicycles, scooters, and mopeds are not an acceptable means of transportation to serve in this position.
- Cell Phone: required for use to communicate with the Board of Elections while making deliveries. In the event of any unusual or unplanned circumstance, must be able to contact and be contacted by the Board of Elections immediately.
