Public Hearing Scheduled Regarding Legislative Redistricting and Proposed Precinct Modifications

As a result of the 2010 US Census the legislative district lines were adjusted in 2012 by the Governor and General Assembly.  The realignment of the legislative district lines requires precinct boundary modifications in several Montgomery County election precincts.  These proposed modifications include precinct boundary changes, polling place assignments, and precinct mergers, and are expected to take effect beginning with the upcoming 2014 election cycle.

A public hearing will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Board of Elections, 18753 N. Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg, Maryland.  Persons interested in speaking at the Public Hearing should visit our website - http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/Elections/BoardInformation/PublicParticipation.html - for information and preparation guidelines.  The public hearing will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 12 noon or when the last participant has concluded their remarks.  A detailed matrix of the proposed modifications will be posted on our website – www.777vote.org – approximately five days prior to the public hearing.

If unable to attend the public hearing, public comments will be received by the Montgomery County Board of Elections through 5 p.m. on March 6, 2013.  Persons interested in providing a response related to the proposed modifications should submit their comments to elections@montgomerycountymd.gov

Maps are available for viewing at the Board of Elections during business hours
