Bill Strassberger
is the Public Affairs Chief for the Bureau of International Organization Affairs at the Department of State.  A career civil servant, he has worked in public affairs positions with the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Peace Corps, and the Defense Logistics Service.

He is a graduate of the
University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics-International Relations and of the American University with a Master of Arts degree in International Education.  Prior to his university studies, Bill served on active duty in the U.S. Army at Fort Myer and Fort McNair.

Bill served as a the Peace Corps Volunteer and United Nations Volunteer in Cameroon for four years, working as an education and training advisor with a United Nations Development Program extension education project for coffee farmers.  He later returned there to train new volunteers entering a similar program.  Bill currently serves as President of the Friends of Cameroon, a national organization of returned Peace Corps Volunteers and others who worked in
Cameroon.

Bill lives in the Tanglewood sub-division of
Silver Spring with his wife, Agnes, a research nurse at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and his son, James, a student at Paint Branch High School.  His hobbies include video production, photography, and travel.  He visited Cameroon with his family during the 2006 summer.
