Tax-Aide Schedulers & Facilitators

Tax-Aide volunteer recruitment is closed for 2024. If you are interested in volunteering for Tax-Aide in 2025, please check back here for open opportunities.

Schedulers

Schedulers arrange appointments for taxpayers at approximately 20 tax preparation sites county-wide, using the Acuity scheduling software. In addition, schedulers explain to taxpayers what information and items must be brought to their Tax-Aide appointment. Schedulers work from their homes, using County-provided equipment, including computer and headset/phone system.

Hours of operation are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday starting each January through mid-April. We ask that volunteers commit to at least one 4 hour shift per week throughout the tax season. There is required online training and certification for this position, as well as potential hands-on equipment training.

Client Facilitators

Facilitators work on-site at the tax preparation sites to welcome taxpayers and distribute the necessary forms. They work closely with Site Chiefs, maintain the appointment logs, ensure that taxpayers are helped in an appropriate order, assist taxpayers with paperwork organization, and assign each taxpayer to a Tax Counselor. We ask that volunteers commit to at least one day per week during tax season, February 1 – April 15. There is required online training and certification for this position.

Please note: This position requires on-site work. There are no virtual options available for these positions.

Schedulers and Facilitators

Some volunteers like to work both as Schedulers and Client Facilitators; it's a great combination!

Training for Schedulers and Facilitators

Training for Schedulers and Client Facilitators will be detailed in mid-December. Online training will include required LMS (Learning Management System) modules found online in the AARP Portal as well as within the IRS Link & Learn system, and possibly additional Q&A sessions.
