Montgomery County Election Worker Program 2026 Positions/Service Hours/Pay Information
Election Workers play a key role in ensuring the successful operations of an election. The Position Descriptions and Payment chart outlines the positions with position codes, a brief description of the role, the required service hours and expected service stipend earnings or student service-learning hours earnings. To be eligible to receive the service stipend or student service-learning hours, you must successfully complete all required training and fulfill all election duties to which you are assignedThe Election Worker service positions are:
- Election Judges (poll workers) - Election Day and Early Voting
- Canvassers
- Nursing Home Program
- Drop Box Runners
Election Day Positions
* Select the position to view the full job description.** Election Workers who served as Election Judges (poll workers) in the 2024 election cycle will receive a returning service bonus for Election Judge service during the 2026 election cycle. Election Judges will receive a $100.00 bonus for each full-day served on Election Day or during Early Voting or a $50.00 bonus for each part-day served on Election Day or during Early Voting. Election workers who served in the 2024 elections as Canvasser, Drop Box Runner, or in the Nursing Home Program are not eligible to receive the returning service bonus.

When the polls are officially closed, the VOP-D will at the direction of the Chiefs transport critical materials to the assigned Regional Upload site. | Roamer (RMR) * | Roamers (RMR) are assigned to provide place support. These highly experienced individuals are responsible for resolving technical problems or procedural issues that may arise. Each Roamer supports four to six polling places on an assigned route. Service stipend (payment) is made by check six weeks after each election. High School Students may elect to receive SSL (Student Service Learning) hours in lieu of payment. To receive payment workers must provide their social security number prior to working the election. Note that the stipend is considered income for tax purposes. Workers earning:
- Less than $600 will not have taxes withheld or receive a W-2 at the end of the calendar year.
- $600-$2,000 will receive a W-2 showing their payment as taxable income. Social Security and Medicare taxes may be withheld.
- $2000 or more will receive a W-2 showing their payment as taxable income. Social Security and Medicare taxes will be withheld.
- W-2 forms will be mailed to the address of record in January of the following year less than $600 will not have taxes withheld or receive a W-2 at the end of the calendar year.
