Corporate Sprinkler License License Process
A contractor or individual performing Inspection, Maintenance, and Testing (IMT) or installation, modification, or alteration of a water–based fire protection system in Montgomery County requires a license from DPS Division of Fire Prevention and Code Compliance. You must also have a sprinkler contractor license issued by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
At least one individual must be minimally qualified at NICET II or PE License for residential and, a minimum of NICET III or PE License for general (commercial and residential). You must also have one of the following; Liability Insurance (Certificate of Insurance) or a recent financial statement prepared by a Certified Public Accountant.
If the application is not approved, a written explanation will be given on the application.
Performing installation, maintenance, testing, or modification of sprinkler systems without a permit is subject to the penalties of the Montgomery County Code. Each day's violation will be deemed a separate offense. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal (DPS) may revoke these licenses for proper cause.
