Antenna/Wireless Combuild Permits Permit & Inspection Process
A commercial building and electrical permit are required for all construction, reconstruction, relocation or maintenance activities related to antennas and/or wireless communication facilities. This type of work also requires a Transmission Facilities Coordination Group (TFCG) review. The commercial building permit and TFCG review will be handled concurrently via the commercial building permit application. The electrical permit is handled separately and must be applied for and issued to a Master Electrician licensed in the State of Maryland.
- If installation is within a County right-of-way, the applicant must obtain a Franchise Agreement with the County.
- A review by the Transmission Facilities Coordination Group (TFCG) is required but will be handled concurrently, as part of the commercial building permit review.
- Some activities may require the approval of a Roadside Tree Protection plan.
Typically, these types of permits are issued within three to four weeks from submittal depending on staff workload and timing of the TFCG meeting.
Applications and fees must be submitted via the Apply Online system. Plans must be submitted electronically using the ePlans system. Refer to the ePlans Submittal Requirements for a Commercial Building Permit. New franchise holders must submit a copy of the executed Franchise Agreement via ePlans.
